This CD consists of recording made by Hicks around the time of the Hot Licks formation in late 1967-68. There are early arrangements of Hot Licks classics and a total of nine previously unheard Hicks originals. Accompanying him on these tracks are Jaime Leopold on bass and David LaFlamme (It's a Beautiful Day") on violin.

Previously unreleased vintage Dan from the pre-dawn of the Hot Licks era, 1967-68. Part of a series of "Nuggets Fron The Golden State". This compilation: ? &© 1998 Ace Records Ltd. Release includes 12 page booklet.
