Generally hailed as Opeth' opus magnum, Blackwater Park (2001) has proven to be a transitional album for the band. While it's earlier albums bring extreme and epic Metal, later albums are leaning heavily towards mid-seventies Progressive Rock. Blackwater Park brings you the best of both, with tons of huge Metal riffing, pre-Metal proggy hooks and dark lyrical topics. In this new direction, Opeth sounds remarkably fresh and convincing on each lengthy track, fully exploring and captivating. No less today than at the the time of the original release!
Standard jewel case with clear tray & 12-page lyrics booklet. "Blackwater Park" was painfully conceived at Fredman studios during the months of August to October 2000. Mixed with the presence of Opeth. The fifth studio album by Swedish progressive metal band Opeth. It was released on March 12, 2001. Rolling Stone ranked the album as 55th on their list of 'The 100 Greatest Metal Albums of All Time.'

In my opinion, the best album in the history of the band. Very melodic and moderately hard. Since I got to know Opeth, this album has firmly settled in my charts at the first place and does not want to leave the pedestal. Although many consider "Blackwater Park" a continuation of "Still Life", I fundamentally disagree with this - this is a separate, very high-quality work, with fragments of the soul of all Opeth musicians. I will not sin against the truth if I say that this group is my favorite at the moment. I never considered Opeth a heavy band, because their work contains echoes of progressive, blues, hard rock and many elements of other styles, "Blackwater Park" is also not very heavy, but it has all the necessary ingredients, and in abundance. Great album, I recommend it.

I seldom listen to Death Metal/Progressive Metal but this one is definitely one of my go-to choices. Helps that Steven Wilson produced this and helped shape the musical direction presented here. Very strong from start to finish, and if you are new to these sounds and want to listen something new definitely give this a chance!

Blackwater Park is the fifth album by the Sweddish progressive rock/metal band Opeth. It is one of the more enjoyed releases of the band and seems to be considered the changing of their sound. Not bad, but not great for my taste.

All true lovers of rock music will like this CD. It is already a classic within the metal community and could easily turn into one of the most influential rock albums of any genre of the early part of the 21st century.

In my opinion, the best album in the history of the group. Very melodic and moderately hard. Although many consider Blackwater Park to be a continuation of Still Life, I completely disagree with this - this is a separate, very high-quality work, with fragments of the soul of all Opeth musicians. I will not sin against the truth if I say that this group is the most beloved by me at the moment. I have never considered Opeth to be a difficult team, because in their work there are echoes of progressive, blues, hard rock and many other elements of other styles, "Blackwater Park" is also not particularly heavy, but it contains all the necessary ingredients, and moreover. Great album, I recommend.

A monumental Opeth record. Their definitive transition to more progressive sound. A must have for any serious metal collection.
