First album of great hard'n'heavy group Def Leppard. Sounded a raw in that time, they started for international success.

Needless to say, this album is a must-have for understanding the beginnings of heavy metal. And even better when you get this copy for free on this site, after carrying out some reviews. Although it is a simple release without many extra attractions, the sound is already worth the CD. I recommend that all buyers of this site observe this incentive for reviews.

No matter what one may conclude about ‘On Through The Night’, it is definitely an album which foreshadowed the potential of Def Leppard. Showing maturity and a musical nous that was well beyond their teenage years, the band crafted a heavy, yet hooky, sound which paved the way for many a successful band throughout the 1980s. ‘On Through The Night’ can be categorized as a grower of an album since the more superficial elements that would appeal to the mainstream will initially distract some listeners from what is actually an incredibly tight musical and vocal performance. Any deficiencies (production, some filler, etc…) are to be expected on such a young band’s debut.

For me the best Def Leppard album, since it has that NWOBHM type of sound that was distinctive at the end of the 70's and the very beginning of the 80's. Great release from Vertigo!

This is the debut studio album by the British hard rock band. It was released in 1980. The album turned out pretty good, but still a bit damp. But the signature strength of music is already being traced.

This is the first Def Leppard and one the classic hard rock albums from the eighties. Good reissue as well. Rock!!

On Through The Night is a full-length debut album and it gave Def Leppard a launchpad to get better from and to record their classic albums High ’n’ Dry , Pyromania and Hysteria. My recommended tracks: Rock Brigade, Rocks Off & Sorrow Is A Woman.

CD is great quality, liner notes look as good as originals. Sound quality is excellent and doesn't sound like it was run through a sound processor or auto tuned. No hissing or popping on quiet parts.
Musically, this is a good album highlighting Def Leppard's start in rock music. The 1st two tracks are the strongest with 7 and 8 showcasing their energy and adding some punk elements to their sound and tempo.

This is a terrific debut album from Def Leppard. The band members were still teenagers, when they wrote this. However, even at a young age, Def Leppard showed a poise, and musical skill which would eventually catapult them to hard rock super stardom later.
