Inspiriert von einer groÃ?en Leidenschaft fÃ¼r Astor Piazzollas Tango, ist Soul Of The Tango ein von der Kritik hochgelobtes und unverzichtbares Werk des "Nuevo Tango", gespielt von Yo-Yo Ma's weltberÃ¼hmtem Cello und vielen von Piazzollas ehemaligen Freunden und Kollegen. Piazzollas frÃ¼here Gitarristen Sergio und Odair Assad waren sogar anwesend, um an zwei von Sergio arrangierten StÃ¼cken zu arbeiten: der "Tango Suite" (bestehend aus "Andante" und "Allegro"). Das Album beginnt mit "Libertango", einer Komposition aus Piazzollas erstem Album das zum Titelsong fÃ¼r den Film The Tango Lesson wurde. Es folgen die beiden StÃ¼cke der "Tango Suite" von Sergio Assad. Dann kommt "Sur: Regreso al Amor", ein ruhigeres Werk, das jedoch eine gewisse VirtuositÃ¤t aufweist. "Le Grand Tango" ist eine elfminÃ¼tige Tour de Force des Tangos. "Tango Remembrances" ist ein besonders schÃ¶nes Werk, da Piazzollas eigenes Spiel zu hÃ¶ren ist. "Milonga del Angel" ist ein sentimentales Werk, das Piazzollas FÃ¤higkeit zeigt, die Emotionen eines Liedes perfekt und rein auszudrÃ¼cken. Zum Abschluss des Albums prÃ¤sentiert Ma "CafÃ© 1930", ein eher langsames Werk, aber auch hier kommt die Nostalgie der Emotionen sehr gut zum Ausdruck.
