This version of Complete Plantation Recor comes as a 1xCD. - RECORDED IN THE FIELD 1941-42 BY ALAN LOMAX! PURE BLUES
Recorded on Stovall Plantation in Clarksdale, MS by Alan Lomax in 1941 and 1942, these 18 tracks represent the first recordings of a sharecropper named McKinley Morganfield a.k.a. Muddy Waters. And, yeah, there's an unreleased track, and four interviews, but really, for something this historic the less said the better. Just listen.
This version has no SID codes. 16-page booklet with the background story and photos. Tracks 1-6 recorded at Stovall, Mississippi circa August 24-31 1941. Tracks 7-17 recorded at Stovall, Mississippi Friday, July 24 1942. Tracks 18-22 recorded probably at Clarksdale, Mississippi, possibly July 20-24 1942. Transferred from the Library of Congress 16-inch acetate disc masters. Digitally remastered at MCA Music Media Studios, No. Hollywood, CA. Tracks 2, 4-7, 14, 16, 21 and 22 previously unreleased. Track durations determined with foobar2000.
