A stunning album by one of the most famous death-black metal bands from Poland. One of the best releases of 1999

The first album of Behemoth to start introducing them more into the vein of Death Metal. Peaceville re-pressing, highly recommended as the rest of the catalogue.

What can I say ... "Satanica" is the first Behemoth album, which I absolutely like. Probably, I'm a fan of their current creativity to a greater extent than the past. There is still a little lack of "ideality" sound and arrangements in places are a bit rustic than on subsequent releases, but Nergal & Co, absolutely perfectly and surely bend their stylistic and musical line. Very powerful drums, recorded by the "army" style, ideally fall "in the stream." Low roar and (surprisingly) dense, but melodic guitars all complete: gloomy, stylish, technical and, as always, not stupid. Again occult lyrics under the impression of Crowley and his companions + a portion of hatred for the "gray mass". Next, Behemoth will only complement and improve everything that they created on this album. There will be more special effects, melodies and lyrics will be sharpened and completed, but the essence will be just about the same. Fans of the band and style - "must-have", although, most likely, and so already all have it all.
