|  | deejays - 11/11/2003 Wu-Tang Clan = WTC = World Trade Center! Na, verstanden Dann schaue dir mal das Cover des neuen, des dritten Albums der unübersichtlichen Staten Island-Posse an. Das hält nämlich eine Variation – die uns auch in der Berichterstattung über die Anschläge in New York begegnete – des berühmten Fotos von der Errichtung einer US-Flagge während der Eroberung der japanischen Pazifikinsel Iwojima im Februar 1945 bereit und signalisiert, dass sich auch Afro-Amerikaner als Patrioten verstehen, vor allem in den stürmischen Zeiten seit jenem 11. September. Der Clan bietet zum Glück noch mehr Deutungen dieses Bildes an – wenn auch sehr versteckt. Aber die Jungs können sich eben einiges herausnehmen, ja sogar ihren neuesten Streich kurz vor Weihnachten auf die Welt loslassen. Und niemand erwartet noch von ihnen, dass sie sich oder gar den HipHop neu erfinden, ein gutes Album reicht ja völlig aus und alles steht Kopf. Wenn RZA, GZA, ODB & Konsorten mit Beats und Rhymes jonglieren, ringen die Kritiker nach Luft – im Prinzip ein berechtigter Reflex, denn in den nicht gerade starken Zeiten für Sprechgesang, sind sie der Leuchtturm im Meer des Charts-kompatiblen Rap-Kollegen.
