"Come along, come along ... Meet my demon" Creativity Mercyful Fate can be divided into two periods. The works of the 80s are an undeniable classic, forever inscribed in the history of music, but the albums of the post-reformation period are objects of controversy, which are not so clearly understood. The previous release of the group did not become a revelation, but indicated the vector of development of the group after the "reunion". And the reviewed album is a logical continuation of "In the Shadows". The sound has become more dynamic and rich, while melody is still at the heart of the composition. Make another amazing masterpiece like "Is that you, Melissa?" King Diamond associates failed. But the group managed to get rid of the ailment of the predecessor, a large number of passage compositions. The backbone of this album is composed of mid-tempo songs, in which one can easily find the excellent guitar work of the Shermann / Denner duet, the interesting vocal achievements of The King (including choral overlays), and of course the indescribable sinister atmosphere inherent in the work of the Danes. Especially successful in these aspects are "The Mad Arab", "My Demon", the title ballad "Time", "Mirror" and "The Afterlife". The only thing that detracts from the merits of this album is to listen carefully. At the first listening to appreciate all its positive qualities, it seems almost impossible. And then ... "Time ... time ... time is always passing by ... Doesn't matter where you are ...."

Any heavy metal maniac knows that Melissa and Don't Break the Oath are among the major albums of all time. However, with the return of Mercyful Fate in 90's, two great albums were released: In The Shadows and Time. The latter is more heavy, obscure and evil than its predecessor. All songs are very good, but Angel of Light, My Demon, Nightmare Be Thy Name are excelent. Great album of a greater band!
