Cet opus met en avant la marque de fabrique du groupe : des thèmes sombres et occultes dans les paroles, une guitare virtuose et la voix unique en falsetto de King Diamond qui traverse chaque morceau avec intensité (« Last Rites », « House on the Hill », « Church of Saint Anne »). La production soignée permet à chaque détail musical de s?exprimer pleinement pour offrir une expérience immersive aux amateurs de métal classique.
Formé à Copenhague en 1981, Mercyful Fate s?est rapidement imposé sur la scène mondiale grâce à son approche novatrice et sa présence scénique théâtrale hors pair. Leurs premiers albums comme « Melissa » (1983) ou « Don?t Break The Oath » (1984) sont aujourd?hui considérés comme des références majeures ayant inspiré toute une génération d?artistes métalliques internationaux avant que le groupe ne se reforme dans les années quatre-vingt-dix après une pause consacrée au projet solo du chanteur King Diamond.

| | Alexander S. - 28/09/2018  So, the last release for today by Mercyful Fate... Well, what can I say... The sound is heavier compared to previous albums, but there are not many interesting things. I can mention "Last Rites", "Church of Saint Anne", "Sold My Soul", "Burn In Hell", "The Grave", "Buried Alive", but none of them falls short of masterpieces of "Dangerous Meeting" or "Come to the Sabbath". The lyrics are still the same - about Satan, Occult, etc., in short, nothing original. By the way, from the "Burn in Hell" by one well-known domestic metal band, the most insolent way is licked the riff (the last album, the fifth song is a direct coincidence ...they do not get used to it :-)) In general, quite a mediocre album from King Diamond comrades.

| | | Stefan K. - 04/11/2014 Das bis heute leider letzte Mercyful Fate Album, was angesichts der mal wieder sehr überzeugenden Songs sehr schade ist. Aber vll erbarmt sich der King ja nochmal und schenkt uns noch ein weiteres Mercyful Fate Album :-)
