Description:Following the 60 's counterculture, the 70 's saw everyone become a little less serious. For many people, the 70 's will be most remembered for the extraordinary rise of disco music and at the opposite ends of the spectrum the beginnings of punk and the entrenchment of rock. As people flocked to the disco clubs, boney m scored a #1 hit with 'daddy cool' and the Jackson's achieved a string of top 10 hits. All this was happening while radio played the likes of Boston's 'More Than A Feeling' and Dr. Hook's 'Sylvia's Mother'. By the end of the decade disco's was dead but there was plenty of new music to follow. This was also a decade that many legendary Rock bands emerged or reached the peak of their popularity including Patti Smith, Lou Reed, Toto and Cheap Trick.
