The brilliant arranger Gil Evans had already collaborated with Miles Davis on Birth of the Cool and Miles Ahead when he made his 2 excellent albums for World Pacificâ??New Bottle Old Wine (1958) and Great Jazz Standards (1959)â??the latter featuring Johnny Coles, Steve Lacy, Budd Johnson, Elvin Jones & more. This stereo Tone Poet Vinyl Edition was produced by Joe Harley, mastered by Kevin Gray from the original analog master tapes, pressed on 180g vinyl at RTI, and packaged in a deluxe tip-on jacket. -

Digitally remastered two-fer from the Jazz great containing a pair of original albums on one CD: Great Jazz Standars (1958) and New Bottle Old Wine (1959). Both LPs present well known standards with the inimitable arranging style of Gil Evans, and feature Jazz stars like Johnny Coles, Cannonball Adderley, Curtis Fuller, Jimmy Cleveland, Budd Johnson, Paul Chambers, Philly Joe Jones, Art Blakey, and Elvin Jones.
