At that time he was still a member of the Miles Davis group which would soon record the immortal Kind of Blue. The 1960 album received a five-star rating in Down Beat, with renowned critic Ralph J. Gleason stating that, â??There are times here when Coltrane is remarkably soft, lyrical, and just plain pretty. You can tag this LP as one of the important ones.â? - Digitally re-mastered two-for containing a pair of albums from the Jazz great on one CD. This release features the classic original album Giant Steps in it's entirety. One of Coltrane's best albums, it contains his first versions of such outstanding tunes as 'Naima', 'Mr. P.C.' and 'Giant Steps'. As a bonus, we have included Coltrane's complete previous quartet album, Settin' the Pace, which also features Paul Chambers and Art Taylor.
