The first in the series of themed 1980's 'anarcho-punk' compilations. With 23 tracks including 10 previously unreleased. Also a 24 page booklet with sleeve notes by Sean McGheeand and a history of each band. Overground. 2005.

From the Overground website: "...23 tracks compiled after many years of research and groundwork, not least finding the bands that in most cases split before 1984! So, having listened to over 1000 recordings from vinyl, demo cassettes, unreleased studio recordings and live gigs we finally settled on 23 tracks for the first volume, 10 of which are previously unreleased." - Track 1 taken from [r=3013238] LP. - Track 2 taken from [r=381581] EP. - Track 3 from Metro Youth's recording session on a four-track machine at their local rehearsal studio in 1981 ("Brutalised" that appeared on [r=565573] 2xLP compilation came from the same session) - Track 4 recorded for a Flowers In The Dustbin album that never appeared. - Track 5 recorded in September 1982 in Southern Studios; appears also on the band's [r=385881]. - Track 6 was the first ever song by Political Asylum. The version here was recorded live in February 1989; appears also on the band's first full length LP, [r=925767] (1990). - Track 7 recorded in 1981. It originally appeared on [r=1678011]. - Track 8 taken from Anthrax's first demo (Oakwood Studios, 1982; "All The Wars" that appeared on [r=565573] 2xLP compilation came from the same session) - Track 10 taken from The System's first demo, recorded in 1982. - Track 11 recorded in Exeter in August 1983, taken from Sanction's one and only studio session. - Track 12 taken from [r=626095] LP, recorded at Woodlands, Castleford, 5th/6th January 1985. - Track 18 taken from Naked's "1982" 10-track demo, recorded at GTS, Rochester in 1982. - Track 19 taken from [r=2706719] compilation (on Rugger Bugger Records). - Track 21 taken from [r=3991286] tape (on the band's [l171929]). - Track 23 recorded in approx. 1980/81. - no info on tracks 9, 13 to 17, 20, 22 Some tracks/artists are listed inconsistently on booklet inside/booklet back/back sleeve: - Track 4 appears as "Novembers Song" on booklet back page and back sleeve. - Artist for Track 7 appears as "Astronauts" on booklet back page and back sleeve. - Artist for Track 12
