Extra-Infos: Best Of Norman Greenbaum
Description:Spirit In The Sky by Norman Greenbaum, released 15 December 2009, includes the following tracks: "Lucille Got Stealed", "Tars Of India", "Hook And Ladder", "Junior Cadillac" and more. This version of Spirit In The Sky comes as a 1xCD. - BEST OF NORMAN GREENBAUM
Best-known for his 1970 hit Spirit in the Sky, Massachusetts born Norman Greenbaum issued his debut LP of the same name in 1969, releasing several singles before reaching #3 [US] with the smash title track, which sold some two million copies. It proved to be Greenbaum's only hit, however, as follow-ups like 1970's Canned Ham and the next year's California Earthquake weren't to hit the same giddy heights. One listen to this very well compiled 24 track overview reveals a very consistent & memorable singer/songwriter, who has pleasantly surprised many a recent convert.
Tracks 1, 5, 6, 9, 10, 11, 12 from album "Spirit In The Sky", 1970. Tracks 3, 4, 7, 8, 13, 14, 15, 16 from album "Back Home Again", 1970 Tracks 17, 18, 19 from album "Petaluma", 1972 Track 21 from the Dr. West's Medicine Show and Junk band album "The Eggplant That Ate Chicago", 1967 Tracks 22, 23 from the album "Norman Greenbaum and Dr. West's Medicine Show and Junk Band", 1970 Tracks 1 (1970), 2 (1971) , 23 (1968) Single A-Sides Tracks 20 (1968), 22 (1967) Single B-Sides Track 24 Recorded in 1977 Not to be confused with [r19237354] which has the same cat number and cover but is actually a copy of the complete "Spirit In The Sky" album (including 3 tracks not on this compilation) with 10 bonus tracks (that are all on this compilation - leaving 7 tracks on this compilation not on the album release).
