Simple is an album by Gabriel Puentes, released in 2010. The album is a jazz CD. -

Mexico City-based drummer Gabriel Puentes (b.1976 in Santiago, Chile) has assembled an outstanding multicultural Jazz piano trio for his debut as a leader on Freshsound New Talent, featuring bassist Chris Lightcap and Leo Genovese on piano (and a vintage electric harpsichord for two tracks). With a program including compositions by Thelonious Monk, Wayne Shorter, Sam Rivers, Ornette Coleman and Tadd Dameron intertwined with short motivating improvisations, free improvisations, acoustic ambiences and an original piece, the trio moves together as a tight, spontaneous-sounding unit capable of swingin' hard and flyin' high, while keeping it simple. The music on this album is the result of the first meeting between these three improvisers. There was barely any rehearsal before going into the studio, and the loose, relaxed approach of the session allowed for the music to breathe and flow. Sit back, relax and ENJOY!
