 | Description: | Digitally re-mastered and expanded deluxe two CD edition including a bonus disc containing further live performances. Captured during what many consider the 'golden age' of Black Sabbath, the recordings on Past Lives show a band moving along the fast track like a runaway train. This live collection is both bombastic and unrelenting. In some respects, Black Sabbath classics like 'Sweet Leaf', 'Children of the Grave', 'War Pigs' and 'Paranoid' sound even more haunting and powerful on this set because of the transcendent live energy that pervades these songs. Bill Ward has occasionally referred to a 'fifth member' joining them on-stage, a non-literal suggestion denoting the sheer power and energy of the four Sabs on stage together. Disc Two expands the more familiar and available performances on Disc One, with further compelling live versions of tracks recorded in Paris at the Olympia Theatre in December 1970 and Asbury Park Convention Hall, New Jersey during August of '75., Runningtime: 00:00:00, Photography By: Jill Furmanovsky, Photography By: Michael Putland, Photography By: Richard Upper, Photography By: Robert Ellis (4), Photography By: Ross Halfin, Remastered By: Andy Pearce, Written-By: Bill Ward, Written-By: Geezer Butler, Written-By: Ozzy Osbourne, Written-By: Tony Iommi, Labelcode 0252749907 (2749907, 2749907, 2749907)"Past Lives Deluxe Edition" est une édition spéciale en CD du groupe légendaire de heavy metal Black Sabbath, produite par Sanctuary. Edilson A. - 22/01/2025 Here's the advantage of buying from here. I received this CD for free from the site for contributing to reviews and accumulating points that are converted into products. Speaking specifically about the CD, it is a high-quality material in double digipak format. Classics and more classics that we don't need to list, just listen to the band at its peak with Ozzy, Butler, Iommi and Ward.
| | OLEG L. - 11/12/2024 This double CD is a live Black Sabbath recorded in 1971-1975 covering the entire early period of Black Sabbath and only released in 2002. Great remastered sound and as usual this is a great live Black Sabbath. Every Black Sabbath's fan must have.
| | Nebojsa B. - 20/12/2023 Great deluxe edition of previously released Live at Last album, now remastered in 2002 and extended to two discs, containing recordings from early Sabbath years. Comes in digipack with rick booklet. Must have for any Sabbath fan.
| | Yuriy P. - 08/10/2023 The double live album "Past Lives" by the British band Black Sabbath was remastered and released in 2002. Includes 18 compositions recorded between 1970 and 1975. Total playing time 2 hours. The first disc was previously released in 1980 under the title “Live at last”. The second disc contains recordings that have never been officially released. On the first disc, all 9 tracks were recorded during performances in March 1973 in Manchester and London. On the second disc, tracks 1 through 4 are recorded during an August 1975 performance in New Jersey, and tracks 5 through 9 are recorded during a December 1970 performance in Paris. This is all history, which is why it arouses curiosity. By the way, from live albums I always expect the compositions on them to sound different from those on studio albums, otherwise I simply don’t see the point in listening to them. In my opinion, this concert selection sounds powerful as a whole, but somehow chaotic, and Osborne’s voice sometimes lacks emotion. Overall, it's a little hard to listen to. Perhaps only suitable for a big fan. Although I still definitely want to highlight 2 numbers. It was interesting to hear the original composition "Snowblind", in which Ozzy shouts the phrase "cocaine!" after almost every verse. This is exactly how it was supposed to sound originally, but the censors of the record company did not allow this version of the song for the album “Vol.4” to pass. The track called “Wicked world” is also quite interesting, but in fact it is a medley with a total duration of about 20 minutes. This song really comes first, only it sounds a little slower and another verse is added. The solo part smoothly transitions into a blues jam, after which “Death mask” begins, the opening instrumental from “Into the void”, only performed faster. Next, Ozzy invites the audience to clap their hands and begins to sing a completely banal song about how he lost his beloved woman, and so on. This song, somewhat reminiscent of "Changes" and appearing at the band's concerts from 1970 to 1974, alas, never received a name and sank into oblivion. The rhythm speeds up, the guitar sound gets heavier, Ozzy continues to sing his song. The music becomes even heavier and faster, and moves into the composition "Supernaut". This is followed by back-to-back drum and guitar solos and Ozzy singing the last verse. In the end, the instruments do not want to finish this pure improvisation for a long time.
| | Dmitriy K. - 18/01/2023 Considering the original was quite muddy, it's still good buy. But I heard a better live album. Geezer's bass was kinda lost, but sounded fine in Wicked worlds track
| | Eugene S. - 12/09/2022 Past Lives is a live album released in 2002 by Black Sabbath. It peaked at number 114 on the Billboard 200. Superb live performance, sometimes superior to the studio performance. I recommend.
| | HYUNG RAE K. - 11/02/2022 This was far better than I was expecting, given the reputation this album has. The first cd is powerful throughout, and the sound quality is far better than I had been expecting. Ozzie's asides create an atmosphere of infectious enthusiasm, to me, and remind me very much of what it was like to see Sabbath live in the early 70s.
| | Azmi H. - 14/10/2021 Sabbath is a band where the politics of popularity and the band's ability to tolerate their own fame dictated the chapters in their history. One of the chapters that really makes me like Sabbath is the last one with Ozzy on vocals, and that's what disc 2 of this amazing live album reflects.
| | Flavia N. - 15/12/2019 For those who are fans of the band, this album it's a must have for sure.
It's double and very nice, so i obviously recommend this one in collection.
Don't wast time and go get your CD.
| | Ivica S. - 17/03/2019 Very good LIVE songs - very good period for Black Sabbath - I recommend
