Description: | Catch My Shoe by The Ex, released 9 September 2010.
This version of Catch My Shoe comes as a 1xCD. - 2011 release from the veteran Dutch Post Punk outfit, their 123rd release overall. Catch My Shoe is the first one with their new singer Arnold de Boer. The songs range from The Ex versions of high energy Gurage music from Ethiopia ('Eyoleyo') to hypnotic full on Dance tunes like '24 Problems' and 'Double Order'. The sound is unmistakably The Ex but with new vocals and Konono style catchy guitar riffs from Arnold and crunchy baritone guitar melodies from Terrie and Andy all propelled along by Kat's relentless driving 'African' beats. The songs range in subject matter from climate confusion, unexpectedly throwing surprise objects, optical illusions, deceitful crop dusters, ice picks and late trains.Recorded at Electrical Audio, Chicago, March 22/24, 2010.
Mixed in Andy's room, Amsterdam, June 2010.
Mastered at Chicago Mastering Service, Chicago, July 2010.
The main riff of 'Maybe I Was The Pilot' was borrowed and adapted from a song called 'Elosi Aberu Akipore Imaniti Abiro' by Ugandan singer and adedeu (harp) player Iganitiyo Ekacholi. It appears on the CD 'Secular Music From Uganda' SWP Records 024.
'Eoleyo' is a Gurage song from Ethiopia.
