Description:	Aysel ist gläubige Muslima und lebt seit vielen Jahren ein wohl behütetes Leben als Hausfrau und Mutter in der schwäbischen Provinz. Als sie erfährt, dass am Stuttgarter Staatstheater türkische Laiendarstellerinnen für die Tragödie Medea gesucht werden, sieht sie die Chance ihrer Langeweile zu entfliehen und bewirbt sich. Was sich am Anfang nach ein wenig Abwechslung anhört, stellt Aysels Weltbild bald auf eine harte Probe. Regisseur Volker Lösch will die Narrenfreiheit des Theaters nutzen, um in die teils sehr verschlossene Welt der muslimischen Frauen vorzudringen. Während der Entstehung des Stücks wird Aysel so mit den tragischen Lebensgeschichten anderer muslimischer Frauen konfrontiert, die sie bisher nur von Hörensagen kannte. Als einzige Kopftuchträgerin muss sie ihre Werte und ihren Lebensstil gegenüber moderneren Türkinnen verteidigen. Zerrissen zwischen der Sehnsucht nach Freiheit und der eigenen Tradition, gerät Aysel in einen Glaubenskonflikt und wird gezwungen, ihr eigenes Leben zu hinterfragen. Aysel beginnt zu kämpfen, gegen Klischees, gegen die Sittenlosigkeit am Theater und zuletzt gegen sich selbst.
