Description:	Frei nach dem Motto Kopfstand statt Ruhestand wollen Ilse, Alfred, Jiří, Herbert und Gabre auch über 80-jährig noch hoch hinaus. Alfred, der 100-jährige Diskuswerfer aus Wien, Jiří, der 82-jährige Hochspringer aus Tschechien, Ilse, die 85-jährige Kugelstoßerin aus Kiel, der 93-jährige Herbert aus Stockholm und Gabre aus Italien - als Lebensmittelpunkt verbindet sie alle der Sport. Beim Hochsprung, Diskuswerfen und Kugelstoßen laufen sie zur Hochform auf und fürchten weder Tod noch Teufel bei dem Versuch, das Siegertreppchen zu erklimmen! Der Dokumentarfilm Herbstgold erzählt von der Erfüllung eines Traums. Regisseur Jan Tenhaven zeigt den etwas trotzigen, ehrgeizigen, manchmal aber auch sehr humorvollen Wettlauf der Senioren gegen die Zeit. Das Alter mit all seinen Widersprüchen ist für den Film kein Anlass zu Sorge, pessimistischen Zukunftsaussichten und Statistiken, sondern auch Gelegenheit, sich zentralen Tabus auf witzige und selbstironische Art zu nähern.
