17 Pictures is a project by Jörg Follert, who has already released critically acclaimed under the pseudonyms Wechsel Garland and Wunder for labels like Morr or Karaoke Kalk. Follert lives in Cologne and has become an influential artist in the field between acoustic instrumentals, electronic collages and song-orientated pieces with vocals. He has collaborated with musicians like World Standard, Felix Kubin, Sora, Niobe and did various remixes for projects like Calexico or Tied & Tickled Trio. On this CD he focuses more on guitar based compositions making less use of electronic elements and vocals. This makes room for beautiful and intimate instrumentals in which the guitar is supported by rhodes, harmonica, string arrangements and a rhythm every now and then. Several songs carry a rather lonesome feeling - but they are alternated by more swinging upbeat pieces with jumping strings passages. A one-minute long theme introduced in the first track reappears in several variations throughout the CD establishing a frame for the whole album. The CD comes in a matt Digipack.
