Jones' gift for rich orchestrations and Bossa Nova's floating yet supple rhythms were bound to meet on record. And with Lalo Schifrin and Latin American percussionists (and Jim Hall on 2 tracks), success was guaranteed. Featured here is the CD debut of the frequently sampled "Soul Bossa Nova," now a favorite theme for the 1998 World Cup. This Verve By Request title also boasts 1 previously unissued bonus track ("A Taste of Honey)."
Recorded August and September 1962 at A&R Studios, New York City. Tracks 1-10 appear on the original LP-issue Mercury SR 60751. Track 11 is previously unissued. Track 2 issued on original as 'Boogie Bossa Nova'. Originally released in 1962. Similar to [r6477265], but pressing by Universal M & L, Germany instead of PMDC Germany. Issued in digipak including an 8-page booklet
