Description:Two original LPs from the King of Psychotronic Country. Very First Time on CD. In the early 1970s Porter Wagoner was at an artistic peak and a personal trough. With hit recordings and a popular T.V show his career was in full bloom yet dark clouds were gathering over his relationship with Dolly Parton and his private life. Presented here for the very first time on CD are Porter's two greatest LPs from this era, both full of stark autobiographical moments. Most notorious of these is 'The Rubber Room', a 1971 chart hit over-brimming with pain and insanity. Other highlights abound, 'If I Lose My Mind' and 'Comes And Goes' both explore similar tortured terrain, while 'Albert Erving' describes a broken recluse and 'Be a Little Quieter' a man tormented by his ghosts. Remastered with love and care from the original RCA Victor master tapes and presented with exclusive liner notes, rare photos from Porter's private collection and a generous clutch of extra tracks (including a rare duet with Merle Haggard). Porter Wagoner was a consummate showman, songwriter and performer who clothed the darkest jewels from the human heart in a purple sequined countrypolitan sheen. Remastered 2010 from the original RCA Victor master tapes! Deluxe packaging, 20 page full colour booklet with scholarly liner notes, rare photos from Porter's private collection, memorabilia etc. First ever release on CD for 26 tracks!
Has a 14 page booklet.
