The fifth full-length album produced by the American progressive metal band Savatage. This was the second album created under the direction of producer Paul O'Neill and was initially released in December 1, 1989. Super album! I recommend.

You start with "Of Rage and War" a dynamic and tempo chaning rhythem which does not lack in bite, the title song "Gutter Ballet" a true masterpiece of musical genious, this one has it all, a well defined story told thru music, classic piano, metal power riffs, high energy vocals, you can listen to this song for hours.

One of the best albums of the most popular American heavy / power band. Especially good is the first half of the album - that neither the song is a hit, nor the melody is super, no solo is beauty. Five consecutive percussion numbers from the 2nd to the 6th composition: a hit and spectacular midd-tempo Gutter Ballet; The most interesting tool is Temptation Revelation; a great hit When the Crowds are Gone; just a brilliant guitar and acoustic instrumental Silk and Steel; beautiful and driving She's in Love ... Yes, and the breathtaking solo of Chris Oliva on the next Hounds (2:44-3:44) after the listed songs is equally impressive. In musical and stylistic terms - the most that is not an outright heavy / power metal, the very salt of the genre. A full set of components inherent in style - drive, power, motor rhythm, nightingale vocals, magic of solo-guitar parts. Classic. 9/10

This is a classic album from these symphonic metallers with killer melodies and strong musicianship. Half of the album contains their most well known songs.
