Extra-Infos: 'rocksteady, Soul And Early Reggae At Studio One'
Beschreibung:Soul Jazz Records' new journey into the mighty vaults of Clement Dodd's Studio One steps once more into the fertile musical environment of Jamaican music in the late 1960s and early 1970s, from the sweet harmony vocals of seminal 1960s Rocksteady right up to the nascent birth of Reggae and Roots music at the start of the 1970s. - While Ska at the start of the 1960s had taken American rhythm and blues as it's main influence, Rocksteady focused on the emergence of American Soul music - with Jamaican vocal harmony groups such as The Gaylads, John Holt & The Paragons, Carlton & The Shoes showing a particular fascination with the close harmonies of Curtis Mayfield and The Impressions and other US soul acts. Here The Heptones even feature with a cover of Bob Dylan's 'I Shall Be Released'. - The influence of Soul music on Jamaican rock steady and reggae is almost palpable, so much so that one wonders how much more successful singers like Delroy Wilson, Alton Ellis, Slim Smith and John Holt would have been had they been born in Chicago, Detroit or Memphis. Artists such as Alton Ellis, Delroy Wilson and Owen Gray defined the era - a slowed down beat as Jamaican political and social heat slowly increased as the 1960s progressed into the start of the 1970s - and the music evolved further from rock steady into roots reggae., Runningtime: 00:00:00, Compiled By: Pete Reilly, Compiled By: Stuart Baker, Lacquer Cut By [Cutting By]: Noel Summerville, Mastered By: Duncan Cowell, Mastered By: Pete Reilly, Producer: Clement "Coxsone" Dodd, Sleeve Notes [November 2016]: Steve Barrow, Sleeve, Design [Sleeve Designed By]: Adrian Self, Sleeve, Design [Sleeve Designed By]: Two-Lane Pickett, Written-By: Billy Stewart, Written-By: Lloyd Parks, Written-By: Carlton Manning, Written-By: Alton Ellis, Written-By: Brenton Wood, Written-By: Clement "Coxsone" Dodd, Written-By: Clifford Morrison, Written-By: Alton Ellis, Written-By: Ivy Jo Hunter, Written-By: William Stevenson, Written-By: Ed Marshall (2), Written-By: Peter De Angelis, Written-By: John Holt, Written-By: Bertram "Ranchie" McLean, Written-By: Ephraim Baxter, Written-By: Larry Marshall, Written-By: John Holt, Written-By: Donny Hathaway, Written-By: Leroy Hutson, Written-By: Bob Dylan, Written-By: Harris Seaton, Written-By: Delroy Wilson, Written-By: Beneto Brown, Written-By: Dennis Richards (4), Written-By: Mac Davis, Labelcode SLJZ367.1 (SJR LP367), Phonographic Copyright (p) Jamaica Recording And Publishing Studio Limited, Copyright (c) Soul Jazz Records, Licensed To Soul Jazz Records, Mastered At Sound Mastering, Lacquer Cut At 3345 Mastering, Phonographic Copyright (p) Soul Jazz Records, Published By Jamrec Music
