A very nice effort from Les Claypool and John Lennon's indigo son Sean. It's psychedelic, dark, crazy and odd at the same time, great stuff!

Multi-instrumentalist Sean Lennon (son of John and Yoko) met bassist Les Kleipul when his band Ghost of Saber Tooth Tiger performed at the opening act of Primus in 2015. They tried to compose music together in Kleipul’s house in California, resulting in the duet The Claypool Lennon Delirium and the album “Monolith of Phobos”. “South of Reality” is the second project work released on February 22, 2019. In an interview, Sean Lennon noted that he and Kleipul have completely different approaches to writing songs, and this can be compared with Keith Richards and Mick Jagger or with John Lennon and Paul McCartney. And in the second pair, he would compare himself with Paul ... But if you compare the work of Sean / Forest with The Beatles, then this is Lennon / McCartney from some evil parallel universe. Their music is alarming, bizarre and hypnotic, with frequent changes in pace and mood; Lennon imposes his ingenious parts of guitars and keyboards on Klaipeda's monolithic bass. The musicians themselves play all the instruments, and only a few tracks do the drummer Paolo Baldi help them. Among the songs, one can distinguish the vigorous “Blood and Rockets” with a dramatic ending, the tense bass “South of Reality”, the foggy progressive “Amethyst Realm” and the Arabic script “Cricket Chronicles Revisited”. “For many of us, it seems that we are in the same world we grew up in,” explains the name of the album, Sean. - Cars still have wheels, gravity still goes to the center of the Earth, but there is a feeling that something is not as if we had fallen into a mole hole and hit a parallel universe. That's why we called the entry “Sub-Reality”. We are not that completely on the opposite end of the world, we are just slightly on a different timeline. ” The creativity of The Claypool Lennon Delirium can be compared with a large-scale surrealistic canvas, to which songs from "South of Reality" added several vivid and memorable images. Their music, combining psychedelia, progressive, eccentricity and experimentation, makes one wonder: what to expect in the future from this talented and unpredictable duet?
