 | Beschreibung: | Children! Dig this mighty fine selection of greasy tunes from the "golden age" of American music. An era that was also the "golden age" of American auto design. Cars. I always saw a lot of similarities between the cars of that era and it's music so I decided to put a whole bunch of great songs about the world of cars and "motorvating" related themes (as seen thru the eyes of black folks and sang by Rhythm & Blues artists) on two complementary volumes. They are all great tunes to dance to or to listen to at home or in your car. Afro American musicians, athletes, entertainers, and salesmen traveled frequently for work. Their best traveling companion was the Green Book, a guide for the "negro motorist" published by Victor Green in New York. The Green Book (published from 1930 to 1965) had a listing for everything from where black people can stay like hotels, motels, things called tourist homes where people opened up their houses to travelers. It has restaurants, barbershops, gas stations, clubs, liquor stores. And then it has places where we could go and vacation and recreation spots. The emerging African-American middle class bought automobiles as soon as they could, but faced a variety of dangers and inconveniences along the road, from refusal of food and lodging to arbitrary arrest. In response, Victor Green (1892-1960) wrote his guide to services and places relatively friendly to African Americans. I would like to dedicate this collection to him, his work and his legacy, Runningtime: 00:00:00, Artwork: Furbman, Coordinator: Little Victor, Liner Notes: Little Victor, Mastered By: Heiko Schulz, Written-By: Doc Starkes, Written-By: Ervin Groves, Written-By: Jimmy Liggins, Written-By: Jackie Brenston, Written-By: Clyde Otis, Written-By: Willie Dixon, Written-By: Rosco Gordon, Written-By: Henry Glover, Written-By: Rudolph Toombs, Written-By: Chuck Berry, Written-By: Leroy Jenkins (3), Written-By: Lightnin' Hopkins, Written-By: Jerry McCain, Written-By: Ellas McDaniel, Written By: Unknown Artist, Written-By: Beverly Bridge, Written-By: Freddie King, Written-By: Sonny Thompson, Written-By: Berry Gordy, Written-By: Charles Leverett, Written-By: Richard Berry, Written-By: Nathaniel Hinton, Written-By: Chuck Willis, Written-By: Bob Kornegay, Written-By: Julius Caleb Ginyard, Written-By: Mario Delagarde, Written-By: Young John Watson, Written-By: Albert Collins (2), Written-By: Edwin Bocage, Written-By: Little Junior Parker, Written-By: Jack Cooley, Written-By: Bill Willis (5), Written-By: Vernon Green, Written-By: Willie Dixon, Written-By: Winfield Scott, Written-By: Dave Bartholomew, Written-By: Bobby Troup, Labelcode KOKM32.2 (KM-CD 32), Distributed By Broken Silence, Mastered At Black Shack Recordings, Designed At Retrograph | | Herstellernummer: |
