 | Beschreibung: | "OSTINATI LAMENTI" The lament is a literary genre that developed - with various names - in Roman languages in the Middle Ages, which typically involves a character complaining in the first person about unrequited love, loss or even their own death. It became very popular in Italy during the Renaissance, due predominantly to the expansion of the publishing industry and renewed interest in the Greek and Latin classics, for example the laments Ludovico Ariosto borrowed from Ovid, including the weeping Olympia. The economic crisis of the early seventeenth century and the remorseful climate of the Counter- Reformation inspired authors to write ever-greater numbers of sacred and secular laments, and these were increasingly frequently in verse form, designed to be set to music. On this recording, featuring Norwegian Baroque ensemble Oslo Circles and mezzo-soprano Marianne Beate Kielland, the listener will hear examples of the lament form by Italian composers such as Frescobaldi, Mealli, Merula, Uccellini, Kapsberger, Monteverdi and others., Runningtime: 00:00:00, Booklet Editor: Hege Wolleng, Design [Cover], Photography By: Anna Julia Granberg, Engineer [Balance]: Thomas Wolden, Ensemble: Oslo Circles, Harpsichord, Organ [Positive], Liner Notes [Lyrics Translations to English]: Mariangiola Martello, Liner Notes: Dinko Fabris, Liner Notes [English Translation]: Verboo, Liner Notes [Norwegian Translation]: Tor Tveite, Mezzo-soprano Vocals: Marianne Beate Kielland, Producer, Edited By, Mastered By: Vegard Landaas, Theorbo, Archlute: Karl Nyhlin, Violin [Baroque]: Astrid Kirschner, Violin [Baroque]: Maria Ines Zanovello, Violoncello, Viola da Gamba: Mime Yamahiro Brinkmann, Composed By: Girolamo Frescobaldi, Composed By: Girolamo Frescobaldi, Composed By: Giovanni Felice Sances, Composed By: Giovanni Antonio Pandolfi Mealli, Composed By: Salomone Rossi, Composed By: Claudio Monteverdi, Composed By: Isabella Leonarda, Composed By: Tarquinio Merula, Composed By: Marco Uccellini, Composed By: Giovanni Girolamo Kapsberger, Composed By: Benedetto Ferrari, Composed By: Antonio Cesti, Labelcode LAWO1226.2 (LWC1226), Phonographic Copyright (p) Lawo, Copyright (c) Lawo, Recorded At Sofienberg Kirke | | Herstellernummer: |
