Cet opus marquant du rap américain met en avant la virtuosité lyrique et la rapidité d?exécution de l?artiste avec des titres phares tels que « Still Not a Player », « Twinz (Deep Cover '98) » ou encore « You Came Up ». Mélangeant le hardcore rap de la côte Est à des influences latines issues de ses origines portoricaines, cet album établit une nouvelle référence technique dans le milieu du hip-hop et devient le premier disque solo latino-américain certifié Platine aux États-Unis grâce à son succès critique et commercial retentissant.
Le label Relativity Records s?est imposé depuis sa création en 1985 comme un acteur clé dans la promotion d?artistes novateurs issus notamment de l?underground vers un public plus large.
Big Punisher (Christopher Rios), natif du Bronx à New York, était reconnu pour ses schémas rythmiques complexes et son charisme unique sur scène ; il gagna rapidement l?admiration d?artistes majeurs comme Fat Joe ou Nas et multiplia les collaborations prestigieuses jusqu?à sa disparition prématurée en 2000.
