Descripción:2014 release from the Metal monsters. Art is a cyclical beast. The same can easily be said of Grammy Award nominated Hard Rock juggernaut Mastodon. The group's four members recognize the importance of life's omnipresent cycles on their sixth full-length album, ONCE MORE 'ROUND THE SUN. The band orbits around themes of loss and rebirth, twirling a sonic spiral of it's signature robust riffing, hypnotically haunting sound atmospheres, triage of dynamic voices, and thundering seismic grooves. The very title says something slightly different for each member. Quite literally, ONCE MORE 'ROUND THE SUN means a year-in-the-life, explains Dailor. Lyrically, we were discussing things that happened to US recently, whereas in the past we looked further back for inspiration. It's about 365 days in this band. It was a tough and strange journey. We happened to be in the middle of completing a full rotation musically as everything else was going on., Runningtime: 00:00:00, A&R: Jeff Sosnow, A&R: Mike Elizondo, Band [Mastodon]: Bill Kelliher, Band [Mastodon]: Brann Dailor, Band [Mastodon]: Brent Hinds, Band [Mastodon]: Troy Sanders, Bass, Vocals: Troy Sanders, Booking [North America, For]: Pinnacle Entertainment, Booking [North America]: Scott Sokol, Booking [Rest Of The World, For]: K2 (28), Booking [Rest Of The World]: John Jackson (18), Coordinator [Project]: Nick Haussling, Creative Director [Creative Direction]: Frank Maddocks, Creative Director [Creative Direction]: Norman Wonderly, Drums, Vocals: Brann Dailor, Engineer [Second]: John Albritton, Guitar: Bill Kelliher, Illustration: Skinner (12), Illustration [Vector], Design: Donny Phillips, Lead Guitar, Vocals: Brent Hinds, Legal: Joseph Lloyd Serling, Legal [For]: Serling Rooks Ferrara McKoy & Worob, LLP, Management: Nick John (2), Management [Business, For]: Polay Financial Management, Management [Business]: Robert Polay, Management [For]: The Rick Sales Entertainment Group, Management [Reprise Records Business Affairs]: Damian Elahi, Marketing: Xavier Ramos, Mastered By: Ted Jensen, Music By, Lyrics By: Mastodon, Producer, Mixed By: Nick Raskulinecz, Recorded By: Nathan Yarborough, Recorded By [Additional Recording]: Tom Tapley, Written-By [Samples]: Brian Downey, Written-By [Samples]: Phil Lynott, Backing Vocals [Additional]: Valient Himself, Synthesizer: Isaiah Owens, Backing Vocals [Additional]: Gary Lindsey, Backing Vocals [Additional]: The Coathangers, Engineer [Scott Kelly Vocals]: Noah Landis, Lyrics By [Additional], Vocals [Additional]: Scott Kelly, Labelcode WB543021.2 (9362-49376-5, 9362493765), Record Company Warner Music Group, Copyright (c) Reprise Records, Phonographic Copyright (p) Reprise Records, Copyright (c) WEA International Inc., Phonographic Copyright (p) WEA International Inc., Copyright (c) Trampled Under Hoof Music, Published By Universal - Polygram International Publishing, Inc., Published By BMG Rights Management US, Published By Scott Michael Kelly Publishing Company, Recorded At The Projector Room Studio, Recorded At Rock Falcon Studio, Recorded At Above The Sunset Bar, Martigny,

The sound Mastodon pursues here draws inspiration from the '70s, without remotely being an exercise in nostalgia. There is one notable exception; it's deliberate and obvious: "The High Road" boasts unapologizing Thin Lizzy worship, albeit ambitiously updated. (Who better?) Its verse/riff structure weds Lynott's rhythmic sensibility to Mastodon's dynamic aggression. The anthemic chorus melody and harmonies, and twinned lead guitar roar, were trademarked by Lizzy's Brian Robertson and Scott Gorham long ago.

After the big delusion of The Hunter, probably the weaker album of this band, Maston are back to their best album to represent their last sound. Far from the genial folly of a Leviathan, OMRTS is a solid heavy metal album with all high quality songs, armoured of catchy refrain and appearently simple melodies. this is the "joke" the band made, offering to their listeners a very dynamic album able to run in your hears like a great chalice of good White wine in your throat.. Welcome back Mastodon.
