"Suspiria - Music for the Luca Guadagnino Film" is a captivating CD release featuring the original score composed by Thom Yorke, renowned as the frontman of Radiohead. This haunting and atmospheric soundtrack was created for Luca Guadagnino's 2018 reimagining of the cult horror classic "Suspiria." Yorke?s compositions blend eerie electronics, piano-driven melodies, and evocative vocals to perfectly complement the film?s unsettling mood. The album stands out not only as an accompaniment to the movie but also as a standalone musical journey that showcases Yorke's innovative artistry beyond his work with Radiohead. XL Recordings/Beggars Group/Indigo are respected names in independent music distribution, known for supporting groundbreaking artists across genres. Their commitment to quality and artistic freedom has made them home to some of modern music?s most influential acts.
Most of the album consists of noise sound canvases that will certainly decorate more than one scene of Suspiria with their atmosphere. York, who was keen on abstract IDM, this time dispensed with any kind of electronic device at all: much more often the music here was natural dark ambient or drone, reproduced by the orchestra or using old modular synthesizers. The soundtrack was attended by Tom's son, seventeen-year-old Noah York (he played the drums in several songs), flutist Pavel Mansurov and London Contemporary Orchestra, who have been collaborating with York radio colleague Johnny Greenwood for many years.
Among the reigning rumble and sometimes quite creepy instrumental compositions in the new work of Tom York, you can find several songs of a more or less traditional form. For example, the title song of the same name, whose main theme will be repeated more than once throughout the album, and the psychedelic and inhibited "Has Ended". But the slow “Unmade” deserves special attention, which fits perfectly into the imaginary playlist of York's best “piano” songs somewhere between “Pyramid Song” and “Specter”.
