 | Description: | In June 2018, Dream Theater secluded themselves in a private location in upstate New York to begin writing for the new record. While spending the summer living together in the propertyâ??s adjacent residence, the band spent their days and nights crafting the music that would make up the new album in the â??Yonderbarnâ??; a beautiful and spacious barn that had been meticulously transformed into a state-of-the art film and recording studio. Following an intense & extremely productive period of group writing sessions and wanting to retain the magic that was captured in this scenic and inspiring location, they decided to record the album in the very room they had all convened to write together in. Living together during the writing and recording for Distance Over Time marked another first for the bandâ??s 33-year career. The result is a heavier collection of songs that showcases the early roots of the band while exploring new territory as musicians and as friends. - 2019 release. Distance Over Time is the Band's 14th studio album. Dream Theater return to their roots combining heavy progressive music with epic melodies that will thrill their legion of fans across the world. Two time Grammy nominated with over 15 million records worldwide. For this record, the band approached things a little differently. For the first time, the members lived, wrote and recorded together at the secluded Yonderbarn studios in Monticello, NY over the course of four months. For Distance Over time, the band wanted to return to their roots and produce a more organic record. Despite these changes, Dream Theater uphold their unique signature of combining metallic aggression and progressive scope, putting it in a frame of tighter, more concise song writing. Distance Over Time might deal with difficult topics, but it also reflects the spirit, joy and passion that Dream Theater put into making this album.Released in a standard jewel case with a clear tray, including a 16-page booklet and a printed tray card colored on both sides.

Muamer Š. - 07/Oct/2020 THE KINGS OF PROGRESSIVE METAL, NEVER FAILED, ALBUM PURE PERFECTION
| | Alexander S. - 08/Sep/2020 Distance Over Time ”is precisely“ the most similar ”album: no, by no means the second part of“ Images And Words ”(Metropolis Pt. 2… did not claim this role very successfully), but“ Images And Words "for the 2010s. It's still more metal than a progressive album - and the sound is accurate, but the ability of the current leader of the group, guitarist John Petrucci, to combine vocal pop melodies and impressive and exciting arrangements, has not gone anywhere, even in the absence of Mike Portnoy's talents as a hidden pop composer ... There is a dime a dozen of proofs, and all of them are more or less similar to the band's long-standing classics: these are quite a pro-metal hits "Untethered Angel", "Pale Blue Dot", the mighty piece "Fall Into The Light", groove "Paralyzed" and the naturally heavy romantic "Barstool Warrior" plus the incredible radio ballad "Out Of Reach". It is interesting that the video accompaniment only hinders the success of the new material, which the musicians themselves have already complained about - without a picture on the screen and even in Internet quality, new material is listened to very convincingly; video only bothers him. The traditionally technocratic pieces “Room 137”, “At Wit’s End” and “S2N” give the album even more credibility, with the latter feeling a huge bias towards the melodically comfortable AOR. The final surprise is the bonus track "Viper King", which puts prog metal in the context of the traditional boogie shuffle, and even with keyboards in the spirit of Deep Purple.
If the fans of Dream Theater were expecting just such an album, it means that the band has very good and loyal fans. And the musicians are deeply bowed down for the fact that they not only listen to the opinion "from the audience", but also know how to arrange this opinion in such a way that it easily fits into the modern rock mainstream, already the third in the long history of their group.
| | WAN MOHD HAIRI W. - 25/Feb/2020 When i wrote this, the album just celebrated 1st anniversary from it releases. This is a jewel case version, so it's not included bonus track song (Standard version).Overall i think this really good album. After the astonishing album, the band return to their roots, combining heavy progressive music with epic melodies. My favourite song from this album is fall into the light, barstool warrior,S2N,pale blue dot and at wit's end.Highly recommended for true DT fans.
| | Marco M. - 05/Sep/2019 Good but not excellent album. After the too long concept "The Astonishing", Dream Theater reunited their minds to create something more smart and immediate, with more guitar impact and massive sound. Everything looks as already listened previously but on a positive side, the album flows as a good beverage: progressive muscles give more space to a direct approach to songs. The result is one fo their most immediate works they ever released. Good for a quality music listening with no expectations and long time love for this monumental band
