描述:2019 release. Distance Over Time is the Band's 14th studio album. Dream Theater return to their roots combining heavy progressive music with epic melodies that will thrill their legion of fans across the world. Two time Grammy nominated with over 15 million records worldwide. For this record, the band approached things a little differently. For the first time, the members lived, wrote and recorded together at the secluded Yonderbarn studios in Monticello, NY over the course of four months. For Distance Over time, the band wanted to return to their roots and produce a more organic record. Despite these changes, Dream Theater uphold their unique signature of combining metallic aggression and progressive scope, putting it in a frame of tighter, more concise song writing. Distance Over Time might deal with difficult topics, but it also reflects the spirit, joy and passion that Dream Theater put into making this album., Runningtime: 00:00:00, Art Direction, Illustration, Design: Hugh Syme, Bass: John Myung, Booking [Booking Agent]: Steve Martin (18), Coordinator [Band and Studio Coordinator]: Matthew "Maddi" Schieferstein, Drums: Mike Mangini (2), Engineer [Additional Engineering], Mixed By [Mix Concierge]: Paul Pavao, Guitar [Guitars]: John Petrucci, Keyboards: Jordan Rudess, Lyrics By: James LaBrie, Lyrics By: John Myung, Lyrics By: John Petrucci, Lyrics By: Mike Mangini (2), Management: Frank Solomon, Management: Jake Solomon, Management [Business Affairs]: Jill Michael, Management [Business Affairs]: Ronald Bienstock, Management [Business Management]: Emily Hansen, Management [Business Management]: Rob Shore, Management [Label Manager], A&R [A&R International]: Thomas Waber, Mastered By: Tom Baker (3), Mixed By: Ben Grosse, Music By, Written-By: John Myung, Music By, Written-By: John Petrucci, Music By, Written-By: Jordan Rudess, Music By, Written-By: Mike Mangini (2), Photography By [Additional Photos By]: Matthew "Maddi" Schieferstein, Photography By [Photos By]: Mark Maryanovich, Producer [Produced By]: John Petrucci, Product Manager [International Product Manager]: Jessica Lausen, Recorded By: James Meslin, Recorded By [Vocals Recorded By], Producer [Additional Vocal Production]: Richard Chycki, Vocals: James LaBrie, Labelcode CEN591520.2 (IOMCD 523, 19075915202), Phonographic Copyright (p) Ytse Jams, Inc., Licensed To Inside Out Music, Copyright (c) Ytse Jams, Inc., Licensed To Century Media Records Ltd., Distributed By Sony Music Entertainment, Record Company Sony Music Entertainment International Services GmbH, Mixed At The Mix Room, Recorded At Yonderbarn in Monticello, New York, Recorded At Mixland, Mastered At Baker Mastering, Made By Sony Music, Glass Mastered At Arvato

THE KINGS OF PROGRESSIVE METAL, NEVER FAILED, ALBUM PURE PERFECTION

English Alexander S. - 2020年 09月 08日 5 满分 5 颗星!
Distance Over Time ”is precisely“ the most similar ”album: no, by no means the second part of“ Images And Words ”(Metropolis Pt. 2… did not claim this role very successfully), but“ Images And Words "for the 2010s. It's still more metal than a progressive album - and the sound is accurate, but the ability of the current leader of the group, guitarist John Petrucci, to combine vocal pop melodies and impressive and exciting arrangements, has not gone anywhere, even in the absence of Mike Portnoy's talents as a hidden pop composer ... There is a dime a dozen of proofs, and all of them are more or less similar to the band's long-standing classics: these are quite a pro-metal hits "Untethered Angel", "Pale Blue Dot", the mighty piece "Fall Into The Light", groove "Paralyzed" and the naturally heavy romantic "Barstool Warrior" plus the incredible radio ballad "Out Of Reach". It is interesting that the video accompaniment only hinders the success of the new material, which the musicians themselves have already complained about - without a picture on the screen and even in Internet quality, new material is listened to very convincingly; video only bothers him. The traditionally technocratic pieces “Room 137”, “At Wit’s End” and “S2N” give the album even more credibility, with the latter feeling a huge bias towards the melodically comfortable AOR. The final surprise is the bonus track "Viper King", which puts prog metal in the context of the traditional boogie shuffle, and even with keyboards in the spirit of Deep Purple. If the fans of Dream Theater were expecting just such an album, it means that the band has very good and loyal fans. And the musicians are deeply bowed down for the fact that they not only listen to the opinion "from the audience", but also know how to arrange this opinion in such a way that it easily fits into the modern rock mainstream, already the third in the long history of their group.

When i wrote this, the album just celebrated 1st anniversary from it releases. This is a jewel case version, so it's not included bonus track song (Standard version).Overall i think this really good album. After the astonishing album, the band return to their roots, combining heavy progressive music with epic melodies. My favourite song from this album is fall into the light, barstool warrior,S2N,pale blue dot and at wit's end.Highly recommended for true DT fans.

Good but not excellent album. After the too long concept "The Astonishing", Dream Theater reunited their minds to create something more smart and immediate, with more guitar impact and massive sound. Everything looks as already listened previously but on a positive side, the album flows as a good beverage: progressive muscles give more space to a direct approach to songs. The result is one fo their most immediate works they ever released. Good for a quality music listening with no expectations and long time love for this monumental band

Nach dem überlangen Astonishing ist dieses Album doch viel eingängiger und kürzer geraten. Hat aber denn Songs gut getan, die durchaus überzeugen und den typischen DT Sound wiederspiegeln.....
