In the 1960s, John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers took the London music scene by storm. Europe and America soon followed, mesmerised by his own brand of British blues. In these early years, his line-ups included the likes of guitarists Mick Taylor and Freddie Robinson, saxophonist Dick Heckstall-Smith, drummers Keef Hartley and Colin Allen, and violinist Don Sugarcane Harris. Across the channel, music TV in France was broadcasting intelligent, high quality shows and mini documentaries, inviting British and American musicians to perform.
