Space Shanty is the debut and only studio album by Canterbury scene band Khan
The music on the album is high-class space jazz-prog-rock. Hillage's songs are full of fresh ideas, the music is constantly changing and at the same time flows without any tension. Although much of the material is built in song format and contains recurring musical themes, the band often goes into drawn-out instrumental solos or mesmerizing guitar and organ interplay, dominated by Hillage's space-blues guitar and Stewart's sparkling Hammond organ playing.
According to a poll by Progarchives.com, as of March 2013, Space Shanty is ranked 7th in the list of the best albums of the Canterbury scene
