 Eugene S. - 02.01.2024  The seventh studio album by the English progressive rock band Yes, released in November 1974. Relayer received a mixed to positive reception from contemporary and retrospective critics. It reached No. 4 on the UK Albums Chart and No. 5 on the US Billboard 200. I recommend.

| | | Alexander S. - 15.02.2020 Wakeman’s absence has always benefited Yes. So, “Relayer” was able to record as “Close To The Edge” should have sounded. There is no longer the pathos that was on the previous two albums, much less “atmospheric” (read “empty”) keyboard passages, the music became freer, more energetic.
"Sound chaser" is, in my opinion, the top of the album. Never before or after Yes could I put so much energy into a song. And the Howe solo is in the middle, where Morricone organically intertwines with Bach. Squire on "Relayer" is just awesome - he and Howe are doing the whole album. Only drums seemed a little boring.
All these superlatives relate to the first two songs, but "To Be Over" ... I perceive the last song as the calm after the storm. The same contemplative number was on "Close To The Edge", but on "Relayer" this is now very out of place.
The best, in my opinion, album of Yes.
