Das Album verbindet harten East-Coast-Rap mit lateinamerikanischen Einflüssen ? eine Hommage an Puns puerto-ricanische Wurzeln ? und setzte neue Maßstäbe für technische Raffinesse im Rap-Genre. Relativity Records wurde 1985 gegründet und hat sich einen Namen als Förderer innovativer Künstler gemacht ? insbesondere aus dem Underground-Bereich ?, denen sie so zum Durchbruch verhalfen.
Big Punisher (bürgerlich Christopher Rios), geboren in der Bronx, galt als Meister komplexer Reimschemata und charismatischer Bühnenpräsenz. Er erarbeitete sich schnell Respekt unter Kollegen wie Fat Joe oder Nas; seine Kollaborationen festigten seinen Legendenstatus noch vor seinem frühen Tod im Jahr 2000 weiter.
