"Asleep In The Back" is the acclaimed debut album by British alternative rock band Elbow, released in 2001 on CD format by Mercury Records. This record introduced listeners to Elbow's distinctive sound?an evocative blend of atmospheric rock, intricate arrangements, and poetic lyrics led by Guy Garvey?s soulful vocals. Standout tracks such as "Newborn," "Red," and the title track quickly established Elbow as a unique voice in modern British music. The album received critical praise for its emotional depth and musical sophistication, earning a nomination for the prestigious Mercury Prize. Elbow has since become one of Britain?s most respected bands, winning awards including the 2008 Mercury Prize for their later work "The Seldom Seen Kid." Mercury Records, known for nurturing innovative artists across genres since its founding in 1945, continues to be synonymous with quality releases that shape contemporary music.

This first album, deserves much more than all debuts. The lines/lyrics are quite obvious and not difficult, emotional but this sort of alternative rock/pop was new than and is new now.
